The City of Ithaca is currently seeking a new member for the Parks & Forestry Tree crew. The position includes responsibilities for tree pruning, planting, removal and winter snow plowing. No tree climbing is required. Aerial lift and other equipment experience is preferred but on the job training for a successful candidate is available. Full Time, Year Round 40hr per week. Overtime is available.

TITLE: Tree Trimmer
LOCATION: City of Ithaca - Department of Public Works - Streets and Facilities Division
SALARY: $20.80/hour, with subsequent increases to $24.94/hour (or more as negotiated by current Union Contract)

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The work involves responsibility for performing skilled and semi-skilled work related to pruning, trimming, planting, transplanting, felling and removing trees. The incumbent operates motor equipment in the performance of duties and also performs ground maintenance related tasks and other public works projects and activities. The work is performed under the general supervision of the City
Forester or other higher level employee with some leeway allowed for exercising independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, trimming, pruning, felling, planting and/or transplanting trees.
NOTE: Successfully completed coursework in arboriculture, forestry, urban forestry or a closely related field at a regionally accredited college or university, or one accredited by the New York State Board of Re-
gents to grant degrees, may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required work experience, with thirty (30) credit hours of coursework in the above fields being equivalent to one (1) year of full-time work
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must possess a valid New York State Class D driver license or a valid driver license equivalent to a New York State Class D driver license at the time of appointment and must obtain a New York State Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) or a valid Commercial Driver License equivalent to a New York State Class B Commercial Driver License within six (6) months of appointment. Said licenses must be maintained for the duration of employment. On the job driver training is available.
