Seasonal Assistants CAES

We anticipate having four positions available to assist with forestry, wildlife, and horticultural research studies. This is a great opportunity to obtain professional experience.
- Forestry (two positions): positions will assist Dr. Jeffrey Ward in studies to increase the resiliency of oak forests. Duties include plot establishment, vegetation inventories, and data entry. Position requires knowledge of plant identification and basic forest measurements. Position requires the ability to perform physical labor and extensive off-trail hiking in the forest in all weather conditions, the ability to follow directions, and work both as part of a team and occasionally independently.
- Horticulture (two positions): positions will assist Dr. Abigail Maynard ([email protected]) in vegetable trials. Responsibilities will include maintaining vegetable plots, harvesting and recording yields, and general fieldwork. Positions require the ability to follow directions and work independently. One position will be stationed in Windsor and one in Hamden.
These positions are durational from May 1, 2020 through August 30, 2020, or possibly through October 30, 2020 (depending on funding and work). The salary is $12.00/hour for 35 hours/week (typically 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, but may vary). These positions involve work outdoors under field conditions. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
