New England Chapter ISA to Offer Day of Safety!

New England Chapter ISA Day of Safety

The New England Chapter ISA is announcing the 3rd Annual Day of Safety. The day will be made up of education sessions including: Chipper Safety, Chainsaw Safety, Precision Tree Felling, Stop the Bleed Training, and will culminate with Proper Tree Planting and the planting of a memorial tree for New England ISA Past President, Fred Perry.

The event is being held in partnership with Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum on April 13, 2023 (Rain Date April 14th) from 7:30am to 3:30pm. The one-day event will kick off with some very important arboriculture education. The program is focused on the tree climber/tree worker but includes safety information that every arborist can benefit from. The morning session will be capped off by an educational tree planting. Bartlett Tree Experts will be donating a tree to the Blithewold in Fred Perry's honor.

The New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (NEC-ISA) is a member organization for arborists and urban foresters. We bring together professionals from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island. Since 1965, we have been a resource and advocate for the green industry.

About the Blithewold Arboretum Blithewold's trees have attracted attention throughout its history. From the mid to late 1800s, former owner, John Gardner planted many of the exotic trees that so excited the visitors from the Arnold Arboretum in 1926. Today the maturity of the collection, as a whole, is one of the character-defining features of the property, and it continues to draw visitors including botanists, garden groups and home gardeners looking for ideas and inspiration.
