Tree Mortality and Tree Inventories Workshop

Location:

Windham-Tolland 4-H Camp

Pomfret Center, CT

Do you know how many dead ash or oak trees your municipality is responsible for?

Do you know the cost to remove these hazardous trees?

With tree mortality at an all time high in CT, having an updated tree inventory is the best management tool available to your municipality. A tree inventory provides valuable information such as liabilities, risks, and replanting needs. A tree inventory can help prioritize work orders and streamline effectiveness, while aiding in budget development. A tree inventory is the cornerstone of your urban forestry management plan.

At this workshop, you will be presented with an update on tree mortality in Connecticut and an investigation into why it is important to have an inventory. Leaders in the consultant and tree inventory software fields will be on hand to provide extensive hands-on training with their product. Attendees will get a chance to conduct a mock inventory and analyze the data. The event will be concluded with a panel discussion with Connecticut Tree Wardens that have conducted inventories. The objective of the workshop is for attendees to be exposed to a variety of options for conducting tree inventories, from the do-it-yourself to the full- service tree inventory, and find the product or service that fits their municipality’s needs.

This workshop is appropriate for tree wardens, deputy tree wardens, arborists, elected officials, risk managers, tree commissions, and anyone interested in tree inventories. Please bring your tablet or phone and water bottle. Registration includes a hot breakfast and BBQ lunch.
