POSTPONED: Massachusetts Town Forest Conference (Free)

9:00am 4:00 pm

The Town Forest Conference promises to engage and foster partnerships between the diverse professionals and volunteers that play a collaborative role in the management of community forests, including foresters, planners, arborists, conservation commission members, land trusts, non-profit organizations, forest landowners, and many more.

The annual event, now in its eight year, will showcase the Tri-City Carbon Project, an intermunicipal carbon sequestration project that will protect the Bear Hole watershed area and generate revenue for future conservation. The three cities, Holyoke, West Springfield and Westfield, have completed a carbon inventory on their combined watershed forest lands and are now selling carbon credits on the voluntary market. Click here for the MassLive announcement of the Tri-City Carbon Project.

The 2020 Town Forest Conference is a great opportunity to learn more about how forests sequester carbon, see examples of carbon-friendly forest management practices, go on guided plant identification and bird habitat walks, and enjoy numerous other family-friendly activities. This event is free and open to all. Pre-registration required to receive FREE LUNCH.

The 2020 Town Forest Conference is co-hosted by the Town of West Springfield, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the USDA Forest Service.
